Guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) departed Eilat, Israel, June 12, after a routine port visit.
The visit gave Sailors an opportunity to explore the city of Eilat and experience the culture and history of Israel.
“We had a great time in Eilat,” said Cmdr. Jason Reller, Roosevelt’s executive officer. “Our Sailors were extremely excited to explore this wonderful city.”
During the port visit, Sailors met the people of Eilat and immersed themselves in the sights and sounds of the city. Sailors also got the chance to swim in the Dead Sea, tour the city of Jerusalem, and scuba dive.
“We are grateful to have had the opportunity to stop in such a historically rich port,” said Cmdr. Jay Clark, Roosevelt’s commanding officer. “I am certain the crew will remember the visit.”
Roosevelt is deployed as a part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group supporting maritime security operations and theater security efforts in the U.S. 5th fleet area of responsibility.
