Turkish authorities have detained three soldiers for allegedly killing a suspected smuggler and wounding another on the Syrian border.
Turkish soldiers who were patrolling the village of İnanlı on the Syrian border in the southern Turkish province of Kilis spotted two people trying to load a car with boxes of sugar. The suspected smugglers got into their car and drove away when they noticed the patrolling soldiers.
The soldiers chased the car but the men defied the soldiers’ orders to stop. During the pursuit, the soldiers fired at the vehicle, injuring both occupants.
