The Czech government on 27 August agreed to donate CZK41 million (USD2 million) in surplus Army of the Czech Republic (ACR) small arms ammunition and hand grenades to the government of Iraqi Kurdistan as part of the latter’s efforts against Muslim insurgents on its territory.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) will donate 10 million 7.62x39mm and eight million 7.62x54mm cartridges, 5,000 RPG-7 warheads, and 5,000 hand grenades from ACR stockpiles. The surplus ammunition will be transported to Iraqi Kurdistan by US military aircraft.
