Brazilian Air Force (Força Aérea Brasileira: FAB) commander General Juniti Saito announced on 2 January that United Arab Emirates (UAE) has begun negotiations for the procurement of up to 24 Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano light strike aircraft.

The FAB is directly involved in the negotiations as the UAE wants six of the aircraft to be delivered immediately. This means they would have to come from current FAB stocks via a lend-lease arrangement between Embraer, the UAE, and the FAB. Gen Saito said the exact legal mechanism is still being discussed.
