Multinational defense giant Thales was awarded a contract Sunday to supply the Qatar armed forces with a military satellite communications system for their ground and naval forces.

The contract, signed in Doha, is the latest round of wins in the aggressive expansion by the Neuilly-sur-Siene-based company that was initiated by outgoing Chief Executive Jean-Bernard Lévy since his appointment in December 2012.
