Sudan is producing its own long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, the Sudanile news website cited Dr Fattah Izz-al-Din al-Mansour, the head of the country’s National Legislature, as saying on 14 April.
“Sudan has new technology to manufacture missiles that has already produced a surface-to-air missile with a 200 km range,” Sudanile paraphrased Mansour as saying during a visit to the 4th Infantry Division in Blue Nile state.
Sudan’s defence sector is controlled by the Military Industry Corporation (MIC), which produces a variety of weapons, vehicles and other equipment designed in the Soviet Union, China or Iran. While MIC has stated in a promotional video that it is capable of manufacturing early warning radars, this is the first claim that it can also make guided missiles. […]
