Somalia and Turkey on Thursday (February 27th) signed a bilateral military agreement that will allow Turkey to train Somali soldiers and build modern military bases.

“[The] agreement will make big changes in the Somali army in terms of their quality, power and experience — we are very grateful to Turkey, the United States of America, and the European Union for their continued support,” Commander-in-Chief of the Somali National Army Dahir Adan Elmi said. “This is part of a huge programme that will help the Somali military.”
