South Lebanese authorities decided to implement heightened security measures for Sidon, including monitoring internet cafes, beefing up patrols in the southern city, and installing security cameras in a bid to counter terror attacks.

The new measures were announced following an extraordinary meeting of the South Lebanon Security Council convened to tackle the growing rumors of potential car bombs in Sidon.
