Third batch of Russian Mi-35 helicopters was delivered to Iraq on Thursday, Iraqi Defense Ministry said at its official website.

The report said the Mi-35’s are universal combat aircraft carrying high-precision and rapid-fire weapons.

The main combat task the helicopters, the number of which is not specified, will be fulfilling will be to deliver airstrikes at the positions of Isil, an extremist organization engaged in heavy fighting with the Iraqi government.

An agreement on supplies of military products of Russian manufacture to Iraq in the amount of $ 4.2 billion was signed in 2012. Experts assess the cost of combat helicopters, equipment and weapons of destruction at over $ 1 billion.
