The US Defense Logistics Agency is looking for a contractor that can deliver 48,000 US gallons of jet fuel to Iraq’s Al-Asad Air Base, suggesting the US military will forward deploy aircraft to Al-Anbar province, which has become a stronghold of the Islamic State militant group.

The solicitation released on the US government’s Federal Business Opportunities website on 16 December said the Jet A1 fuel, as well as 8,000 gallons of unleaded gasoline and 18,000 gallons of diesel, needed to be delivered to the base at night between 10 and 16 January.
