Senior U.S. military officials are due to arrive in Beirut Friday to follow up on arming and training the Lebanese Army, according to a report.

Local daily Al-Joumhouria said Friday a delegation from the U.S. Central Command, or CENTOM, will arrive in Beirut in the coming hours for talks with Defense Minister Samir Moqbel and senior Lebanese Army officers.

The short report said the visit was aimed at ensuring implementation of arming and training the Lebanese Army under an agreement signed between Washington and Beirut.
