The amphibious transport dock ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) conducted a transit through the Strait of Hormuz to the Arabian Gulf, June 20.
U.S. Marines from the USS Gunston Hall will conduct previously scheduled sustainment training in Kuwait to maintain proficiency and a high degree of readiness. The Marine Corps has conducted sustainment training in Kuwait on a regular basis for two decades.
Gunston Hall is part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group which departed Norfolk, Va. in February and is operating in the 5th fleet area of responsibility on a routine deployment to support maritime security operations. The deployment of U.S. Navy assets are regularly scheduled and are in accordance with our longstanding commitments to the security and stability of the region.
