Israeli troops committed a violation of the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 by crossing the Blue Line in south Lebanon, the Lebanese Army said Wednesday.

In a statement, the Army said a group of eight Israeli soldiers crossed the Blue Line at 7:22 a.m. in Mais al-Jabal, walked 20 meters into Lebanese territory and retreated nearly an hour later.

The violation prompted the Army as well as U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon to deploy, it added.
