The Royal Jordan Air Force (RJAF) is looking to acquire advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to support its operations against Islamic State militants and for border protection, a senior RJAF source told IHS Jane’s at the IDEX show in Abu Dhabi.

“We want to purchase an advanced UAV to match our increasing role in fighting the Islamic State, fighting terrorism, and protecting our borders,” the senior official said.

The death of the RJAF pilot Lieutenant Muath al-Kasasbeh at the hands of the Islamic State has led to Jordan significantly increasing its role in targeting the group’s leaders in an effort to isolate its command from the fighters, the source added. […]
