Israel Aerospace Industries ( IAI) announced on Thursday that it has made “impressive” progress in preparations to launch production of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet wings.

Mass-production at the Lahav Division’s facilities near Tel Aviv is expected to begin in September, and delivery to Lockheed Martin Corporation, the manufacturer of the aircraft, in mid-2015. The contract’s duration is for ten to 15 years, with potential sales reaching 2.5 billion U.S. dollars, the IAI said.

The Lahav Division has been producing wings for Lockheed Martin ‘s F-16 fighters and the U.S. Air Force’s T-38 supersonic jet trainer for well over a decade.
