In the wake of the execution of 47 people in Saudi Arabia on 2 January, several countries have been reconsidering arms sale plans as tension between Riyadh and Iran escalate.

Reports indicate that UK prime minster David Cameron has postponed a planned trip to Saudi Arabia, where he was expected to push for additional Eurofighter Typhoon sales to the Kingdom, and Germany’s vice chancellor announced that the country would be reconsidering sales to the country.

“We must now review whether in future we should take a more critical stance on defensive armaments, which we have so far sold to Saudi Arabia for its national defense,” Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said, in a statement reported by UPI . […]
