Deadly fighting in Tripoli continued early Wednesday morning as heavy fire was exchanged between the strife-stricken city’s Alawite-populated Jabal Mohsen area and the nearby Sunni-dominated Bab al-Tebbaneh.

Eight Lebanese Armed Forces soldiers were injured after several of their vehicles were shot at in Bab al-Tebbaneh.

“An APC in Al-Malloula was hit at 6:40 in the morning by a rocket-propelled grenade originating from Bab al-Tebbaneh’s Al-Bazar neighborhood by gunmen under the command of Talal Issa, which resulted in the injury of three soldiers, two of whom were severely wounded,” an army statement issued Wednesday read.
