A contract for licensed assembly of approximately 200 T-90 main battle tanks in Algeria was signed by Rosoboronexport last year, the newspaper Vedomosti wrote on Friday, quoting sources in the defense sector.

“Russian knockdown kits will be assembled at a tank plant of the Algerian Defense Ministry which has earlier repaired armored vehicles,” the report said.

Moscow Defense Brief editor Mikhail Barabanov estimates the approximate cost of licensed assembly of 200 T-90 tanks at $1 billion, the newspaper wrote.
