Australia and Israel are exploring opportunities to collaborate on defence technologies as part of a “continuing, modest relationship” between the two countries, a spokesperson from the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) told IHS Jane’s on 17 March.

Speaking after recent meetings in Australia between the DoD’s Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development, the spokesperson said the two sides are continuing to explore “areas of mutual benefit on a case-by-case basis”.

The spokesperson confirmed that defence technologies being considered for Israeli-Australia collaboration include those related to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and counter improvised explosive devices (C-IEDs). […]
