The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces headquarters has awarded Al Fattan Ship Industry an AED18.5 million (USD5.07 million) contract to supply eight inshore patrol vessels for the UAE Naval Forces, it was announced at the IDEX 2015 exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

Designed to conduct a range of missions, including search-and-rescue (SAR), coastal and infrastructure protection, and maritime security, the 8-ton displacement, composite-build vessels are equipped with three 300 shp Mercury outboard engines, which generate a maximum speed of 45 kt.
